Life is not at all easy for many kids in Nigeria especially in the northern area. This region where most insecurity issues prevail is also embattled with significant poverty, kidnappings, signifant number of out of school kids and also limited ways of earning good income for families. Many kids in this region end up joining bad gangs and terrorizing their neighborhoods.
Around November 2018, I (Chike) had to sit with a few well-meaning individuals to discuss actions we could take to significantly reduce these vices and profer solutions on ways to actually get these kids engaged. That was how our foundation The Mil Vision Foundation was birthed.
Appreciating the impact being made by other organizations, we felt more could actually be done and we are already starting to make that impact. Till date, we have 5 volunteers, we've enrolled 31 kids in primary schools of which we've had 6 graduates and we unfortunately lost 1 of them to a bad illness. We are currently supporting and mentoring 24 of these kids.
Asides the above, we intend to provide continous mentorship, performance evaluation and the supply of the basic needs of the kids throughout their primary school period. We also intend to setup a center that will be accessible to these kids during the course of their vocational training.
Our hope is to raise $93,000 for this campaign to sponsor 1000 kids across Borno State, Nassarawa and Abuja as new beneficiaries at The Mil Vision Foundation who will receive educational support and vocational training. The cost of supporting a child in school and training is $100. This will take care of their school needs, books and materials, uniforms and shoes, excursions and vocational classes.
We heartily thank those that have already supported and we invite you to support our campaign to help 1000 kids gain access to basic education and equip them for a bright future, as we strongly believe that together, we will achieve much more.
